The paintings at Maura Austen Art are often  an exploration of the vast and quantum nature of existence, using colour movement and light. The surfaces of the oil paintings are built up in layers of paint adding and editing elements over time The watercolour are painted from observation of landscapes in single sittings. The movement from dense forms of the third dimension to lighter vibrations not clearly seen but perceived is a reoccurring theme in the paintings.
